What will you be doing?

As an Information Analyst, you play a crucial role in optimizing, maintaining compliance, and operationally supporting our data and IT landscapes. You ensure that our systems and processes support the bank's financial health and comply with all legal requirements.

Your role operates at the intersection of Finance (Treasury/Funding), Risk, and IT, with a strong focus on data. You are the linking pin who translates functional requirements into technical implementations and vice versa. You will be working within the Financial Transactions Stream, the team responsible for supporting the core processes of both the Front and Back Office at BNG.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the continuity and optimal performance of IT processes that support financial transactions, both at the front office (e.g., trading, treasury management) and the back office (settlement, reporting, reconciliation).
  • Identifying and resolving disruptions within the chain, including coordinating incident management and performing root cause analyses.
  • Monitoring system and process performance, and proactively proposing and implementing improvements.
  • Aligning with users (business) and IT suppliers on changes, releases, and updates of applications.
  • Documenting procedures, work instructions, and changes in the IT landscape.
  • Implementing internal and external guidelines (such as DORA, RDARR) within operational processes.
  • Supporting audits and inspections by providing relevant information on the operation and control of processes.

Management & Stakeholder Management:

  • Participating in and facilitating Operational and Tactical meetings.
  • Handling and resolving incidents according to internally agreed SLAs and responding to business inquiries.

Hands-on Data Analysis:

  • Performing data analyses and ad-hoc reporting using tools such as SQL.
  • Gaining insight into data flows to collect and process data from various sources.
  • Ensuring data quality controls within the data flows and intervening immediately when necessary.

IT Governance & Compliance:

  • Updating the IT Risk framework where data and calculation models are concerned.
  • Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations (such as DORA, RDARR), including documentation and support with Data Lineage.

System & Process Optimization:

  • Analyzing and reporting on incidents and data chain performance, and coordinating the resolution.
  • Executing system selection and development (scouting/advice/RFI/RFP) with a strong technical perspective.
  • Applying Design Thinking (Quick Scans/Analysis) to arrive at the best solutions.
  • Conducting process modeling and architecture analyses.
  • Translating and/or refining business requirements into functional, technical, and non-functional requirements.

Your workplace

As a DevOps Engineer within the Financial Transactions Stream, you are part of the Delivery department within the COO division of BNG Bank. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for all IT and facility services within the bank.

The Delivery department consists of approximately 130 employees and 16 scrum teams. The Financial Transactions team consists of 3 teams that work closely together. The team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of applications for our Front Office and Back Office departments.

Within BNG Bank, the team continuously works to improve the services provided to our internal clients. You will work alongside your colleagues in multidisciplinary teams that apply Agile (Scrum) methods with DevOps principles in developing and managing applications.

What we ask of you

  • Work Experience: You have at least 3 years of relevant experience as an Information Analyst, Business Analyst, or Data Analyst in a complex environment, preferably in the banking sector.
  • Domain Knowledge: Specific knowledge of Treasury and Funding (e.g., liquidity, interest rate risk, capital markets) is a strong plus.
  • Technical Skills (Must-have):
    • Excellent command of SQL for data analysis and querying (directly from databases).
    • Solid IT knowledge and understanding of application landscapes, data integration, and system administration.
    • Experience with programming in Python and using source control (Git) is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: You are capable of understanding complex legislation and financial processes and translating them into workable IT solutions.
  • Communication: You easily switch between the business (functional) and IT department (technical).
