Infrastructure

At BNG, we are proud of our role in infrastructure projects. We support seaports, Schiphol Airport and public transport in their growth and sustainability efforts. We know the sector inside out. We are keen to use our experience to develop new, future-oriented solutions.

Developments in the sector

The infrastructure sector is changing. Schiphol Airport and seaport companies are committed to a cleaner living environment through sustainable energy generation, circular economy and safety. These companies are constantly working to contribute to a healthy and greener living environment. Just like us. That is why we are happy to finance these projects.

Public transport

Important developments are taking place in public transport. Major investments are needed to make the sector more sustainable. New buses have been running on renewable energy for some time now, and from 2030 onwards they will be completely emission-free. Meanwhile, the government is working with partners to investigate the possibility of trains powered by hydrogen and/or batteries. And Schiphol is looking into how they can produce more renewable energy than they need themselves. At BNG, we are happy to contribute our ideas. We are already taking concrete steps in the financing of e-buses. In this way, we are making an impact together.

Seaports

The Dutch seaports are fully committed to sustainability and energy transition, with a wide range of initiatives.

  • Rotterdam is investing in hydrogen production and CO₂ reduction to promote a cleaner environment
  • Amsterdam is strengthening its position as a “Green Port”, focusing on clean shipping and renewable energy
  • North Sea Port is also playing a role, with a focus on CO₂ capture and the use of hydrogen
  • Groningen Seaports is stimulating green growth, supported by wind energy projects.
  • Harlingen is focusing on making the fishing industry more sustainable, including through cleaner ship designs.
  • Den Helder is developing as a hub for offshore wind and climate-neutral initiatives.
  • IJmuiden is developing efficient and service-oriented port and quay infrastructure and a fish auction with appropriate facilities for users to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Moerdijk is aligning the objectives of companies in the port and industrial area with international guidelines for Corporate Social Responsibility, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

BNG supports these ports in achieving their climate goals through strategic investments, in line with our focus on SDGs and energy transition.
