The Prize

The prize is a collaboration between the BNG Cultuurfonds, Circuspunt, and Festival Circolo.

Circuspunt is a platform that brings together and connects creators, circus companies, festivals, theatres, educational institutions, youth circuses, and circus workshops in the Netherlands. Through support and promotion, the organization stimulates the artistic and professional development of the sector, thereby laying a solid foundation for circus in the Netherlands. Festival Circolo is one of the largest circus festivals in the Netherlands and annually attracts a broad and diverse audience to the Spoorpark in Tilburg.

From 2017 through 2025, the BNG Circus Prize was awarded to graduates of professional circus programmes in the Netherlands. From 2026 onwards, the prize will annually support an emerging circus talent in the creation of a new production, thereby strengthening the visibility of circus on Dutch stages.

Winner BNG Circus Award 2025

In 2025, four emerging circus talents amazed both jury and audience with their short presentations. Fontys graduate Tim van den Bos de Lucas received the prize for his performance Kenova from the hands of Margo Mulder, Mayor of Bergen op Zoom and board member of the BNG Cultuurfonds. The jury wrote:

With Kenova, Tim van den Bos de Lucas shows how parkour can be used to bring movement, dramaturgy, and scenography together in a universally resonant and impressively professional performance.
