BNG launches green loans pilot for social housing associations

BNG has launched a pilot for green loans, specifically developed for Dutch social housing associations that invest in sustainable new-build and renovation projects. With this new type of financing, BNG wants to help speed up the process of making the Dutch housing stock more sustainable.

BNG receives ECB capital requirement for 2026
31 October 2025
As part of the annual Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP) BNG has received notification from the European Central Bank that the total SREP capital requirement for BNG is set at 10%, effective as of 1 January 2026. This requirement is to be held in the form of 56.25% of Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) capital and 75% of Tier 1 capital, as a minimum.

Theatermaker Hanneke van der Paardt heeft de BNG Theaterprijs 2025 gewonnen met de indrukwekkende voorstelling BANG. Tijdens het Nederlands Theater Festival in Theater Bellevue nam zij de award, een fysieke cheque ter waarde van 45.000 euro en een bos bloemen in ontvangst.

This underlines our effectiveness in responding to the substantial public funding needs and investment challenges, as well as our resilience in a period marked by geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and significant volatility in the financial markets. Our capital and liquidity position remained consistently strong.

De Kei in Reusel: the beating heart of the community

At the end of 2024, the municipality of Reusel-De Mierden welcomed De Kei, a modern, multifunctional building where people can watch theatrical performances, attend conferences or visit the library, among other things. This energy-neutral building, which replaced an outdated community centre, provides space for a variety of purposes. Thanks to funding from BNG, the municipality of Reusel-De Mierden was able to achieve its ambition for a future-proof meeting place that combines culture and care with connecting people.

Climate targets BNG validated by Science Based Targets initiative
2 October 2025
The renowned Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has reviewed and approved BNG's CO₂e reduction targets. This concerns both the targets for our own business operations and a large part of our loan and bond portfolios, with 2030 as the target year. This validation shows that our climate targets are scientifically underpinned and fit in with the scenario in which global warming is limited to a maximum of 1.5°C.

The BNG Culture Fund Foundation was established to support arts and culture projects throughout the Netherlands. The fund is also committed to developing emerging talent by awarding prizes in disciplines such as theatre, literature, circus, music and dance.
