BNG supports the Dutch public sector in a year of major investment challenges

In 2025, BNG proved to be a stable and reliable partner during a year in which public organisations faced major investment challenges. We contributed to public services that help the Netherlands move forward, with a long-term loan portfolio of EUR 95.7 billion and portfolio growth of EUR 11.2 billion of new long-term loans. From affordable social housing and renewable energy to future-proof healthcare and educational institutions, and vital infrastructure.

“We work closely with our clients on more than just financing; we build connections, thereby enabling our clients to achieve their social goals more quickly and effectively.”
Philippine Risch
CEO BNG

The net profit of BNG amounted to EUR 172 million. This decrease is the result of market conditions and conscious choices. We allocated part of our profits to provide our clients a lower price, enabling them to create more impact. In addition, BNG decided to divest parts of the non-strategic portfolio, the bank’s funding costs increased compared to last year and we invested in the further professionalisation of the organisation.

In 2025, BNG raised a total of EUR 16.6 billion in funding, of which EUR 5.5 billion were ESG bonds. The bank maintains a strong financial position, with a Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of 42% and an LCR of 159%.

Together with our clients, BNG continues to focus on social impact and the energy transition. For instance, the CO₂e emissions per million euros lent decreased by 6.5% in 2024 compared to the previous year, and the bank's climate goals for 2025 have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

In 2026, our commitment continues to focus on themes in which we really make a difference, in collaboration with our clients and partners. By making links within housing, energy, education, healthcare and infrastructure we enable our clients to achieve their social goals more quickly and effectively.
