BNG introduces the Green Loan for Social Housing Associations

With its new financing instrument, the Green Loan for Social Housing Associations, BNG is encouraging social housing associations to explicitly take sustainability into account in their investment decisions in order to make their social and mid-range rental homes more sustainable. Social housing associations that meet predetermined sustainability criteria receive a one-off ‘green bonus’. The loan can be used in both WSW-guaranteed (Social Housing Guarantee Fund) and unsecured financing arrangements.

BNG and Thésor are organising a webinar on the Green Loan for Housing Associations

Making the housing stock more sustainable is a key social challenge. To encourage housing associations to explicitly factor sustainability into their investment decisions, BNG offers the Green Loan for Housing Associations. In a joint webinar with Thésor, BNG will explain this form of financing and its practical application in more detail.

ESG-driven investment: green loans as a driver for sustainable housing

In the Dutch social housing sector, making homes more sustainable is essential for creating future-proof residential areas and neighbourhoods. BNG wants to use green loans to provide a financial incentive to accelerate sustainability together with its clients. The pilot launched with housing associations Alwel, De Alliantie and Ymere is promising. BNG is ready to further expand this new form of financing.
