Acquisition of Schutse Zorg location

The Schutse Zorg Foundation is an organisation comprising six care centres on the island of Tholen, based on a Christian outlook on life. It offers nursing, care, accommodation, domestic support, guidance, daytime activities and welfare to around 400 elderly people. Both intramural and extramural; inside and outside the walls of the care centre. Schutse Zorg Care Centre is located in Sint Annaland, where 85 elderly people live.

The various locations on Tholen provide a home for residents in a familiar environment and close to their families. This gives dementia patients in particular a sense of calm; they can still find their way around easily here. This familiarity can slow down the progression of dementia. BNG financed the €7.8 million acquisition of the nursing home.

Strong community involvement

The main location is De Schutse care centre in Sint Annaland. Next to it is the Vroonhof sheltered housing complex. Here, residents have care “around the corner” and live independently. A little further on, on the harbour square, is the Annahof apartment complex. Residents consider it a wonderful place to live.

Residents of the apartments on Elenahof in Stavenisse also live independently with the option of additional care or domestic help if needed. The Scheldeoord care centre is also located here. Vestehof is located in Tholen itself. At the An de Diek care farm (on the dike) in Sint-Maartensdijk, residents can cuddle with animals, embroider or play shuffleboard to their heart's content. There is something to do every day.

Driven by social impact

BNG is owned by and serves the public sector. Everything we do is focused on making a social impact. BNG Bank financed Schutse Zorg's acquisition of the Habion Foundation nursing home. This enables Schutse Zorg to consolidate its operations throughout Tholen. It also strengthens the social network of elderly people in Tholen, who can now receive care close to home and do not have to move to a care centre far away from their village. We discuss these kinds of choices with our customers. For us, it's not about profit, but about social impact. That is what drives us.

We both have a social mission, which helps us reinforce one another
23 April 2024
Are you feeling mentally strained and does this lead to a crisis? Then you naturally prefer to recover at home. Still, a clinical admission is necessary sometimes. GGZ Noord-Holland-Noord is working hard to provide this care as professionally as possible – in an environment that promotes recovery. It does this, among other things, by building new, up-to-date facilities made possible in part by smart financing from BNG.
