With the Hof van Cramer multifunctional accommodation (MFA) development in Wapenveld the municipality of Heerde is investing in a future-proof facility for the village. The new building combines facilities for sport, culture, healthcare, a library and fire brigade. The demolition of the existing sports facility and fire station has created space for a new building that contributes to quality of life and social cohesion in the village.

Sustainability played an important role in the preparations. The existing sports complex was demolished using a circular approach in order to reuse as much of the materials as possible. Parts from the old sports and tennis hall were reused in the project and elsewhere. Materials such as the sports flooring have also been reused as a raw material for the new construction.
The new building has been designed with sustainability, flexibility and efficient use of space in mind. The modular design allows different users to share the facilities. Visible wooden constructions contribute to a healthy indoor climate and CO₂ storage. The design is inspired by the industrial past of Wapenveld and combines functionality with a warm look and feel. The building was completed in December 2025 and will officially open in 2026.
The project was made possible in part by a subsidy from the provincial Steengoed Benutten scheme and financing from BNG. In close cooperation, sustainable ambitions, social value and financial feasibility were aligned, making Hof van Cramer a future-proof facility for the village.
