Funding for the educational housing cooperatives Samenfoort PO and Samenfoort VO has been increased by more than €100 million in total. In line with the municipality of Amersfoort, BNG wants to contribute to the realisation of sustainable, fresh, multifunctional and future-proof school buildings in Amersfoort.

Since the decentralisation of educational accommodation in 2019, school boards got control over their new buildings. In Amersfoort, it has been decided that the school boards, united in two cooperatives, Samenfoort VO (secondary education) and Samenfoort PO (primary education), are responsible for this. Based on this decision, the cooperatives will replace a hundred outdated school buildings over a period of 40 years. This contributes to education by providing good, sustainable and future-oriented accommodation. This collaboration has led to greater coordination between school boards and the municipality and has resulted in more economies of scale in the construction of new schools. Temporary accommodation is also being arranged more efficiently by making use of each other's buildings.
In order to realise these plans, BNG provided the cooperatives with a credit facility of approximately €70 million in 2020, in addition to contributions from the municipality and school boards. This facility is now being increased to €175 million. This increase will make it possible to finance the investment plans for the coming years and to continue to meet the requirements and ambitions of BENG (Nearly Energy Neutral Buildings) with gas-free as a basic quality. For BNG, financing educational institutions to renovate or improve their accommodation is important. Because we are keen to contribute to social progress.
