Secure banking at BNG

BNG does everything it can to keep its online services as secure as possible. As a user, you play an important role in this. Read here what you can do to keep banking secure.

Keep your personal login details secret

To log in, you need a User ID (or an email address) and a login code. You will receive the login code from the Digipass or Digipass App after entering your PIN code. You can set this PIN code yourself during activation.

  • Do not give your User ID, PIN code and login code to others
  • Do not write down or save codes
  • Make sure your PIN code is not easy to guess. It is not possible to choose weak PIN codes such as “1234” or “000000”
  • Ensure that no one is watching when you enter your PIN code.
  • Never disclose a PIN code by telephone, e-mail or any other means other than those prescribed by BNG.
  • When using the Digipass App: if you use the option to log in with your fingerprint, you may only do so if you are the only person who has registered a fingerprint on your device.

Never hand over your BNG Digipass (App)

Your Digipass (App) is personal.

  • Ensure that your Digipass (App) does not fall into the hands of others
  • Regularly check that you still have your Digipass (App) in your possession
  • Ensure that Digipasses are not exchanged between users. Check the serial number on the back. This is linked to your profile

Secure your equipment

A lot of malicious software, such as viruses and malware, enters via links in emails that appear to be reliable but are not. Or by visiting infected sites. Be alert and attentive when using equipment.

  • Ensure you have a suitable automatic lock that can only be unlocked by authorised employees.
  • Secure computers, phones and tablets that you use for banking with an access code.
  • Carefully regulate the rights of your employees and administrators within your network.
  • Ensure that your computer network cannot be taken over “from the outside”.

Secure your software

Ensure that software is secure.

  • Install appropriate antivirus, anti-malware and anti-spam software on your equipment and protect your network with a firewall.
  • Ensure that the installed software has the latest (security) updates.
  • Remove software that you no longer use.
  • Do not install illegal or dubious software.

Check your accounts and payments regularly

BNG Payment Services provides daily account information.

  • Always check your account information as soon as possible.
  • Check all transactions you submit or confirm.
  • Also use the SHA integrity check when submitting payment and direct debit batches.

Report incidents

Contact BNG immediately in the following cases:

  • You no longer have the Digipass (App) or do not know where it is
  • You suspect that someone else knows your PIN code
  • You see strange transactions on your account statement
  • The login screen looks different/strange

You can report this to the Customer Service department on 070-3750555 or klantenservice@bngbank.nl.

BNG can immediately block your Digipass (App) to prevent any further damage. We will never ask you for your PIN and/or login code.
