Money held in accounts with BNG is legally protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme. The guarantee covers amounts up to 100,000 euros. This protection applies per person and covers the total amount you have in your accounts with BNG. You do not need to do anything to benefit from this protection.
In the event that a bank goes bankrupt, the Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme ensures that you can access your money again within seven working days. This protection is arranged automatically. The Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank) administers the Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme on behalf of the government.

The Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme protects the money you have in a bank account. In the case of BNG, this concerns, for example, money that you have in a current account or a term deposit that you have made.
The Dutch Deposit Guarantee automatically protects the money of all private individuals and virtually all companies and organisations, including public bodies and operational organisations within the meaning of the Joint Arrangements Act. Exceptions are the State, provinces, municipalities and water boards, public bodies in the BES islands and comparable international and foreign governments and financial companies.
The Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme protects your money in accounts with BNG up to 100,000 euros.
