Sustainability Reporting Guide

BNG wants to make the Netherlands more socially responsible and improve sustainability performance. A sustainability report can help to provide insight into performance and communicate it more transparently. To support local authorities in drawing up sustainability reports, BNG developed a Sustainability Reporting and Accountability Guide in collaboration with the Coalition of the Willing.

Why was the “Guidance on Sustainability Reporting and Accountability for Local Authorities” developed?

  • Responsibility and transparency
Authorities must provide insight into their sustainability policies and performance.
  • Legislation and regulations
European directives (CSRD) and national frameworks require consistent reporting.
  • Social impact
Your report shows how you contribute to a sustainable society.

What does BNG offer?

  • The 'Guidance on sustainability reporting and accountability', a practical document that helps you prepare reports in accordance with the latest guidelines.
  • The supplement ‘Getting started’, for practical guidance on how to actually get started.
  • Expertise and support: We follow developments in the field of sustainability and translate these into useful tools for local authorities.
