Surrounded by meadows with cows and fruit trees lies Hoeve Overhuizen, a living environment for people with dementia. The Hoeve is a home where residents live their own lives. With financing from BNG, MeanderGroep Zuid Limburg has created this beautiful and unique place with an open-door atmosphere where the feeling of freedom is central.

De Hoeve offers a living environment for people with dementia. There is a total of 52 individual bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, on the ground floor and two upper floors. The residents of De Hoeve are cared for by their trusted family doctor from Bocholtz, with a geriatric specialist as the person ultimately responsible.
Outside, there is a large, lively courtyard and several gardens. Here, residents can fill their days with caring for animals, picking fruit, walking and many other activities. They can also visit the chapel or simply sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view.
The central objective of De Hoeve is to provide support, guidance, care and treatment to elderly people (who can no longer live at home), enabling them to live the life they want. De Hoeve offers a form of living in the local community, where appropriate support is provided, tailored to individual needs. The starting point here is to bring different generations and groups together. In this way, De Hoeve also fulfils a social role as a meeting place within the local community.

Healthcare institutions must continue to invest in order to maintain the quality of care and meet the increasing and more demanding demand for care. In order to support its healthcare vision of “Live your own life”, MeanderGroep took out a loan from BNG in 2021.
The money was spent on construction projects, the deployment of technology and the necessary infrastructure transition, among other things. Hoeve Overhuizen was one of those construction projects and opened in 2021.
Michael Ehlen, board member of MeanderGroep: ‘It's great to have a partner who understands our core function. The ultimate goal of all investments is, of course, to improve the quality of life of the elderly. We don't need to explain that to each other.’
BNG is a bank that prioritises maximum social impact over profit. In that respect, the bank is well aligned with the healthcare organisation's plans. ‘We understand where Meander wants to go,’ says Fred Reynaers, senior account manager at BNG. ‘The problems associated with ageing in this region are significant, and that calls for a sound and clear vision for the future. Meander has that vision. For us as a bank, it's great that we can contribute in this way.’

BNG is seamlessly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are seventeen goals aimed at making the world a better place by 2030. This project contributes significantly to SDG 3, good health and well-being.
