Would you like to play a key role in building BNG’s data foundation?

What will you be doing?

As Lead Data Modeller at BNG, you will play a key role in setting up our organisation's data foundation. In this new position, you will be responsible for BNG's enterprise data model. This model forms the central truth on which we structure, manage and utilise our data, from reporting and regulatory reporting to (advanced) analytics and AI applications.

You will take the lead in designing and maintaining conceptual and logical data models. You will work closely with domain teams to contribute ideas about the technical implementation of these models on the new BNG Data Platform. You will be a connecting link between different disciplines and ensure that the data model is widely supported and effectively applied within the organisation.

In your role:

  • You will design and maintain the conceptual and logical data models and support the Data Delivery teams in their technical implementation
  • You will set up (change) processes to effectively organise collaboration with Data Delivery teams and value chains around the data models
  • You will chair the new consultation forum for data modellers, in which changes and expansions to the data model are discussed and agreed upon
  • Ensure clear documentation of data models and processes to guarantee consistency and reusability
  • Provide requirements for the Data Modelling tool and be responsible for its functional design, in consultation with the Data Architect
  • Actively contribute to improving data modelling skills within the Data Delivery teams

Your workplace

As Lead Data Modeller, you will be part of the Delivery department within the COO column of BNG Bank. The COO column is responsible for all ICT and facility services within the bank. Delivery consists of approximately 130 colleagues, divided into 16 scrum teams. Four of these teams are organised around the Data Warehouse (DHW) platform, one of which focuses specifically on the development of the new BNG Data Platform.

Within this dynamic and data-driven environment, you will work closely with data engineers, data modellers, data governance specialists, the data architect and subject matter experts from various domains. Together, you will build a future-proof data landscape in which the enterprise data model plays a central role. You will fulfil a leading and connecting role in this, with plenty of room for initiative and impact.

What we ask of you

You are an experienced data professional who switches effortlessly between business and IT. You know how to translate complex data issues into clear models and are able to act as a trusted advisor within the organisation. You take initiative, think ahead and know how to get others on board with your vision.

In addition, you bring the following to the table:

  • At least 10 years of experience in data modelling, preferably within complex organisations
  • Experience with data modelling tools such as PowerDesigner or Oracle Data Modeler

  • You can quickly familiarise yourself with complex environments
  • You have excellent communication skills and know how to convey technical concepts in an understandable way to non-technical stakeholders
  • You have leadership experience and know how to connect people and get them moving, thanks in part to your flexibility in style
